presented a proposal to allow the 2004 Girls and Boys Track and Field State
Championships to be hosted by

APPROVE BASKETBALL SHOWCASES AND TOP 40 WORKOUTS
Commissioner Ress presented for
approval plans for the IHSAA to co-sponsor the Boys and Girls Basketball Showcases,
and the Top 40 Workouts. A motion to
approve the plan was made by Patrick Mapes; seconded by

was requested by Commissioner Ress to sponsor the IHSAA Sportsmanship Award, to
be presented during the NFHS Girls and Women in Sports Day luncheon. A motion to support National Girls &
Women in Sports Day was made by Jim Feist; seconded
by Janis Qualizza; motion passed 15-0.
APPROVE TRADE-IN OF TWO IHSAA AUTOMOBILES
Associate Commissioner Craft
requested permission to seek bids for the purpose of trading in two
automobiles. Bids will be obtained from
three dealers. A motion to approve a
recommendation to accept the lowest bid was made by
2003-04 BOYS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS
Associate Commissioner Craft
presented a list of basketball officials who have applied to work the 2003-04
Boys Basketball Tournament Series.
2003-04 WRESTLING TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS
Assistant Commissioner Cox
presented a list of wrestling officials who have applied to work the 2003-04
Wrestling Tournament Series. Mr. Cox
anticipates assignments will be distributed to approximately 128 officials.
2003-04 SWIMMING & DIVING TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS
Assistant Commissioner
Searcy provided a list of possible starters who have applied for the 2003-04
Swimming & Diving Tournaments. The
swimming and diving tournament series require 40 officials at the sectional
level.
2003-04 GYMNASTICS TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS
Assistant Commissioner
Searcy presented a list of 2003-04 licensed gymnastics judges. The tournament series calls for 64 officials
to conduct the eight sectionals.
Associate Commissioner Craft
reported on transfers that have been ruled upon during the 2003-04 school

reported on the unsportsmanlike conduct reports received by the Association as

presented regarding the financial status of sports conducted during the fall
sports season.
Boys
Tennis is a non-revenue generating sport.
With most of the expenditures accounted for, the cost of the Boys Tennis
Tournament was similar to that of last year.
The
Boys and Girls Soccer tournament attendance remained consistent, as did
expenditures.
Girls
Golf is also a non-revenue generating sport.
The cost of the tournament was commensurate with last year’s expenses.
The Boys and Girls Cross Country State Finals
attendance showed an increase this year.
Overall, the cross country tournament series expenditures showed a
general improvement.
The
volleyball tournament series net revenue showed an increase which reflected a
substantial reduction in expenditures at the sectional and state levels of the
tournament.
